Furnishing Designs

On occasion I get to dabble in furniture and architectural accessory design in my work with my colleagues at Reimer & Co. Here are some furniture ideas I’ve been working on for a modern timber residence up in Golden, BC. Furniture is one of my favourite design mediums, though the opportunity to design pieces that will actually be produced is rare. I am pretty enamored with the large contrasting wood bits, accented by steel and dovetailed together in big chunks. Would you want one of these in your house?

Nice stuff, Mike! That dining table would be damn heavy.

  2. Yes. Yes it would. I suppose 3/8″ plate would be adequate, and the legs could be drilled out more for weight, but still i like the solid feel of 1/2″. Wiggly tables suck.
