About Me

I really stand behind my work.

I really stand behind my work.

I can’t leave things alone. When I’m making dinner from a recipe, I am always thinking ‘I bet it would taste good if…’ and so it becomes something other. I don’t know where the compulsion comes from, but it is true and deep, and hasn’t faded a bit in my 35 years.

I live in Cranbrook, a small, quirky town in south-easter British Columbia with my wife Anie, two fantastic red-headed kids Finn and Wren, in a tiny little old yellow house that is in perpetual renovation. The garage is gigantic, and houses an office (left over from the years I had my office in there), and about 80 drawers of old lead and wood type to accompany my gigantic Chandler & Price letterpress. Also in there you may find a sound-system for band practicing, a vintage Lambretta scooter, a chainsaw, and piles of all the other things you find in a typical garage.

What it comes down to is that I love making things that look good. I have always been good with a pencil, and over the last 10 years have evolved proficiencies as diverse as website design, client relationships, project managment, basic information architecture, copywriting and html skills. I am the creative director and principal of a small creative firm in Cranbrook, BC, Canada. I am fascinated by typography, digital and hand-set. In my spare time, such as it is, I do woodcut prints, pen & ink drawings, acrylic paints and play guitar. My goal is to keep my brain from turning to mush in old age by always giving myself a challenge.
